Speedlinking 8/20/06

Develop the mind of equilibrium. You will always be getting praise and blame, but do not let either affect the poise of the mind: follow the calmness, the absence of pride.
~ The Buddha, Sutta Nipata
It's a warm Sunday morning in the desert. I've read other bloggers talking about fall being in the air. I wish I were there.

~ Vince at Numinous Nonsense has added movie reviews to his mainpage. Pretty cool. His site has been transforming of late -- in very good ways.

~ Tom at Thoughts Chase Thoughts is a bit perplexed about the new Wilberian color scheme. Tom asks which one we should use, the older SDi colors or the new, integral-rainbow of Wilber? Personally, I will only use the Wilberian colors when talking about Wilberian theory. In another post, Tom thinks America's future is so bright . . . well, you know the rest.

~ Jay at The Zero Boss is one of the best bloggers around these days. He's always got something worth reading. To wit, Tamara Hoover’s Tits Are Worth $7,425 (Each) is about an art teacher being fired for having nice breasts that she bared on a website. Become a reader now, before we lose Jay to the world of big league bloggers.

~ Mike at Unknowing Mind announces Ringing of the Bards 9 -- some good poetry.

~ P2P Foundation offers another long list of del.icio.us links.

~ Gareth at Green Clouds has a nice post on the difficulty of life.

~ Time Magazine online looks at Hillary's preparations for 2008. Sounds like Bill wants to be back in the White House.

~ A psychologist warns that people without a strong work ethic should not "train" that part of themselves to be stronger, but should save their reserves for when they really need it. Whew . . . an excuse to be lazy.

~ Is your city working to curb global warming? Find out here. Turns out that Tucson's mayor, Robert Walkup, has signed the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. Personally, if the avergae temps here climb the 4-6 degrees some are predicting, this place will no longer feel habitable (it often doesn't already).

~ Utne Reader has an article on the effects of environment on brain size and power.

~ David Ignatius takes a clear-eyed look at "Islamo-fascism" at the Real Clear Politics site. This is good, really good. We need more people who can think outside their party affiliation.

Thanks for the link-love, Bill, and the kind words. Here's hoping your praise is predictive. :)
